Finding Home - Celebration of Meanings in Italian Cinema - Ossining, NY.

October - December 2008
The program was devoted to explore the myriad meanings of finding home - from a physical place, a loved person to inner peace – as revealed through three prominent cinematic masterpieces.

Federico Fellini’s first film as a director delves deeper into the implications of idolizing heroes of the Fumetti – photo novels – that were very popular during the 40’s in Italy.

Stromboli – Stromboli - Terra di Dio (1950)
Known as the father of the Neorealist film movement with his emblematic masterpiece Rome Open City – Roma Citta’ Aperta (1945), Roberto Rossellini in this 1950 decides to change direction into psychological human drama that focuses on the individual.

Classic Italian Cinema at Jacob Burns Film Center - Pleasantville, NY.

June 2008
cafe Pellicola participates this summer in the annual Classic Italian Cinema festival organized by The Jacob Burns Film Center, one of the most prominent film organizations in New York. On June 18, Shlomi Ron presented The Fiancés - I Fidanzati (Ermanno Olmi - 1963).

Italian Beauty - Italian Women through Italian Cinema - San Diego, CA.

January - July 2008
This festival is a snapshot of the feminine image so skillfully represented by Italian cinema as the quintessential symbol of Italian beauty. This series is organized in collaboration with the Italian Program at SDSU which will introduce the films and moderate the discussion.

Classic Italian Film Festival - Ossining, NY.

March - May 2008
The festival program is devoted to celebrate the prominent achievements of the classic Italian cinema. The selected films represent different styles of some of the major directors from late Neorealism to the Italian Comedy (Commedia all’italiana) genres of the 50’s and 60’s.

As part of the celebration of its 25th Anniversary, the Italian Cultural Center of San Diego and cafe Pellicola present a collection of Classic Italian Movies each 4th Thursday of the month. The festival program is devoted to celebrate the prominent achievements of the classic Italian cinema. The selected films represent different styles of some of the great directors from the Neorealism film movement to later years.
